Arrivals and first climb up Alpe d'Huez

Updated: Feb 28, 2020

Our first day kicks off on Saturday, June 20th 2020 with a guest pick up at Lyon St. Exupery Airport at 12 noon. Once we have gathered all of our guests we will make our way to Alpe d'Huez to check into our hotel and start getting bikes set up.

The staff of Hotel La Chamois and several of our guides will be on hand to help you to your room and get you oriented at the hotel.

The gang at Cycle Huez will have the rental bikes ready for the guests that have chosen to rent. These are Willer GTR Team bikes that are set up for riding the mountainous terrain here in the Alps.

Our guides will assist in assembling bikes for our guests that have brought their own bicycles and we will answer any questions that you may have about the schedule.

Obviously, once everyone's bikes are set up and baggage is stowed, we go for our first ride.

We will embark on our first ride down the first 5 turns of the 21 bends and make our way over to the Pass de la Confession for a stunning view of the valley and some good photo opportunities.

From there we make make our way through Villard Reculas and drop down to the dam at Allemont. We will make our way along the cycle path and over to the start of our first climb up the 21 Virages of Alpe d'Huez!

Our first day will wrap up with a huge family style meal prepared for us by the staff at La Chamois. We have been working together for many years and Chef knows how much cyclists like to eat.
